The No. 1 Dance School in Kingswinford

All About The Sheldon School of Dance

Founded in 1975, Sheldon School of Dance is a proud family-run dance school with a long-standing reputation for excellence, fun, and community spirit. Its principals, Geoff and Vicky, opened the school shortly after moving to the Kingswinford area, where their passion for dance and teaching quickly took root.

Initially offering Ballroom, Latin American, and Classical Sequence classes, the school soon expanded into Disco dancing following the release of Saturday Night Fever. Over the years, this evolved into what we now know as Freestyle Dance, one of our most popular styles today.

Now joined by their daughter Emma, along with a dedicated team of talented teachers and helpers, Sheldon School of Dance offers classes for all ages and abilities – from energetic toddler sessions and street dance, to adult lessons.

A well-known and much-loved name in the Kingswinford area, Sheldon School of Dance provides a friendly, inclusive, and encouraging environment for everyone to discover the joy of dance. Whether you’re taking your first steps or working towards a higher level, our goal is to help you learn, grow, and have fun along the way.

Geoff & Vicky

Geoff and Vicky founded Sheldon School of Dance over 50 years ago, combining their love of dance with their passion for teaching. Both began their careers as competitive dancers, representing at a national level in Classical Sequence and earning numerous titles.

Over the years, they have shared their expertise with children and adults alike, teaching across a wide range of dance styles and inspiring generations of dancers.

Geoff and Vicky have also played an active role in the wider dance community. They have served on several committees within the National Association of Teachers of Dance (NATD), contributing to the development and promotion of dance education nationwide.

As highly respected adjudicators, they have judged competitions throughout the UK in Freestyle, Ballroom, and Latin American dance, including events organised by independent promoters, the ADFP, and the NATD.

Having successfully run award-winning competitions for many years, Geoff became a qualified scrutineer, while Vicky developed her skills as a charismatic compere, hosting events across the country. Geoff also works as a qualified examiner, travelling nationwide (and occasionally abroad) to assess and encourage the next generation of dancers.

Loved and respected within the dance community, Geoff and Vicky have taught countless families over the years, many of whom now bring their own children and grandchildren to learn the exact steps that once inspired them.

“We love teaching our pupils, they get to know us and we get to know them. What a wonderful feeling when things start to gel. You cannot beat the feeling you get when your pupils finish a class with a smile on their face!”
